I love my body, I love my shape, I love my lack of curves and I love my fatter bits
But it wasn’t always that way!
Emotionally I put my physical wellbeing to the back of the queue. I never felt happy and at peace with my body.
Two caesareans and lack of self-worth plus years of poor health from living with ME meant I felt guilty if I had a ‘treat’ and was always living in a state of fear thinking “ I look pregnant all the time “ I’d always turned a blind eye to how I looked and had always been underweight , so weight gain I’d never experienced before I was pregnant . (I had spent years on a yeast free and sugar free diet).
I could always eat what I wanted, balanced healthy eating and the right foods was never a priority pre family …. (& then it was all about making sure the kids had no food colouring or processed sugar etc or they’d go woppy!)
Putting on weight was my priority pre kids! I was so undernourished for so many years and when the children came along I came last. (self-care was elfish or so I was thinking) So it was all about looking good on the outside and wearing clothes that disguised my obvious bloated stomach. When I came across Arbonne’s 30 day program I thought it would be like all the other cleanses detox programs that I had looked and tried (mainly singular elimination diets ) but to my surprise it wasn’t.
Instead of focusing on what I couldn’t eat, I focused on what I could eat
Instead of counting calories, I focused on where the food came from
Instead of focusing on weight loss, I focused on how I felt
Instead of feeling like I was missing out on the things I loved, I learned to make healthy choices and they tasted even better.
At last I found it…. a program that focused on increasing energy, creating good habits, improving confidence which in turn helps to manage weight and essentially it focused on what I knew was my core problem my Gut Health.
Some dairy products have always made me physically sick so that was easy to give up (And soon my many allergies started to diminish.).
I had it wrong all along! I’d allowed my health problems to define me. Health to me now is about FEELING good on the inside, and creating healthy HABITS which are realistic & sustainable and support my Gut health. Self-Care is now a priority!!
